The Bellingham Diamonds are a 501c3 not for profit organization based in Bellingham, WA. Our mission is to get girls softball back on the map here in Bellingham and Whatcom County by empowering girls to play the great sport of fastpitch softball.

Bellingham Diamonds is the only fastpitch softball organization for girls in Bellingham right now. By comparison, every other school in the county - from Blaine to Mt. Baker - has a team at each grade level. Our goal is to get girls in our community back on the diamond to enjoy the amazing game of fastpitch.

The Diamonds were born in 2021 when coach Britt and I went to sign our daughter up for fastpitch and there wasn’t a single option for girls in Bellingham. We were floored and saddened. Bellingham is a community that should support youth athletics and empower our girls to experience the many benefits of traditional sports. Fastpitch and baseball are near and dear to us as Coach Britt played at Sehome High and Travis played baseball at Squalicum High.

Our team values are: Respect, Engagement, and Hardwork. And above all else to have as much fun as possible because at the end of the day, fastpitch is just a game after all!

FAQs:

How many practices are there per week?

  • Diamonds practice 2x per week leading up to the start of games beginning in April

  • We then drop to 1 practice per week - in the past we’ve had good success with Sundays, but it could be a week night depending on our game schedule. In which case, we will add the game and practice schedule to team snap well in advance once the game schedule is released to us. All practices and games are communicated through the team snap app, along with other coach/parent communication

    Where are practices?

  • This depends on field availability - but in the past we’ve typically practiced at Sehome, Bellingham, and Joe Martin Field.

How many games are there per week?

  • We play 2 games per week, typically one week night game and one Saturday game.

  • The days fluctuate based on what team we are playing as Lynden’s field availability may differ from that of Meridian, and Meridian from Baker, etc…

    How long is the season?

  • Early to mid March to the end of May.

    When does practice begin?

  • Practice begins in early March

    When do games begin?

  • Games begin in early to mid - April

What is included with my registration fee?

  • Uniforms - visor, jersey, pants, belt and socks.

  • 4 training sessions at 1for1 training in Bellingham - which is owned by Bellingham’s only active major league ballplayer - Austin Shenton (Go Mariners!)

  • Registration fees also cover field rentals, umpires, league fees, equipment purchases, and coach stipends, although 95% of our coaches are volunteers. :)

My child plays another sport in the Spring or has another extracurricular activity - can we make both work?

  • Absolutely! We encourage multisport athletes and for kids to enjoy extracurricular events outside of the softball diamond.

  • This is rec softball, so we understand if a ballplayer needs to miss a practice or a game.

    Is playing time equal?

  • Yes, this is rec level softball where the majority are beginners. We will do our best to play everyone equally while still maintaining a focus on winning!

What equipment does my ballplayer need?

  • Cleats, a mitt, and it is recommended for kids to have their own helmets. Although we provide helmets to each team.
